AFSCME LOCAL 1693 MEMBERS Only!

Up to 100 days of sick leave per year?
If you need it, it could be available to you!

AFSCME has worked hard to provide this benefit for you, and it doesn’t cost you a penny. Most of our employees have hundreds of hours of sick leave built up, and by pooling these hours we can use them to your benefit. Employees who have not joined have gone unpaid for weeks. Please don’t let this happen to you.

To join the AFSCME Local 1693 Sick Leave Bank, you must be an employee with 25 days/200 hours or more of accrued sick leave. The amounts of hours it will “cost” you are two days/16 hours to join. Once you have joined, payroll will automatically make the deduction each July. If you have ten or more years of service, AFSCME even negotiated the two days donated to the bank for you, see Article 10 section 1 of the Negotiated Agreement.

All you have to do is stay healthy. In case you don’t, you won’t have to worry about that all-important paycheck coming in on schedule.

If you haven’t joined AFSCME Local 1693 yet, this benefit alone is worth more than the cost of membership. You may want to save the cost you spend on disability insurance. When you add this benefit to all others, you have an exceptional package.

If you are not currently an AFSCME member and wish to take advantage of this and many other union membership benefits or if you are currently a union member with 25 sick days/200 hours, you can click the "Contact Us" link located at the top of every web page on this site and let us know you would like to join or attend a meeting and speak with a sick bank committee member.
